Object First corrals Ootbi backup boxes with Fleet Manager

Published

Object First has launched a Fleet Manager to monitor and manage multiple Ootbi backup appliance sites through a single dashboard.

David Bennett

The Ootbi appliance is an immutable object storage target system for Veeam backups, with an SSD ingestion cache and disk storage backend. There are three models in the Object First range, with 20, 40, and 432 TB capacities. The 432 TB model supports ingest speeds of up to 8 GB/s in a four-node cluster. Fleet Manager is a secure, cloud-based, control plane service engineered to monitor distributed Object First deployments. It ensures Object First appliances keep data immutable while enabling secure remote access, centralized fleet visibility, and monitoring operations.

Object First CEO David Bennett said: "Resilience depends on knowing what's always happening across your backup environment. Fleet Manager gives enterprises the visibility and control they need to protect their Veeam backup data, and service providers now have a powerful new way to scale their operations and deliver consistent, reliable service to every customer. The result is less complexity, less risk, and stronger outcomes for everyone."

Object First says: "Fleet Manager centralises oversight across all Ootbi clusters, eliminates the need for VPN-hopping between environments, and does it without ever touching backup data, preserving absolute immutability."

It provides:

  • Centralized fleet view: A single dashboard enables monitoring of multi-cluster deployments, storage utilization, and hardware health, and receipt of fleet-wide system alerts from services like Object First Honeypot.
  • Secure remote access: Customers have a secure Zero Access, cloud-based service that reduces operational overhead with no additional hardware or software required.
  • Cluster operations: Service providers and enterprises can securely monitor multiple customer environments with multi-tenant visibility, gaining insight into outages, overages, and threats.

Fleet Manager is built in accordance with CISA's Secure-by-Design principles, and is available to all Object First customers, including service providers, with an active support plan at no extra cost. A downloadable white paper describing its capabilities is available here.
