Volumez veers towards agentic AI data infrastructure

Published

Volumez has changed its focus from super-fast block storage to deploying and operating AI agents at scale.

Up until mid-2025 the startup had been present in the market in a PR sense, talking about its Data Infrastructure-as-Service (DIaaS). This provisioned fast block storage on-prem or in the public cloud using Linux kernel functionality.

Then it went quiet until recently when its website was revamped with an agentic AI focus, although still making performance claims; more than 13 TB/sec bandwidth versus competitors’ less than 2 TB/sec and other impressive stats. We took a look at its leadership web pages and checked on LinkedIn and saw a few absent faces;

  • Dennis Mulder, VP Customer Success on Volumez website, left as his LinkedIn entry says, in Dec 2025
  • Dianne Gonzalez appears to have left her position as Senior Director Marketing
  • CRO Jason McKinney left in Dec 2025
  • Head of growth Jean Banko left in Dec 2025
John Blumenthal

It appears the top go-to-market execs have left. We contacted Volumez Chief Product Officer and head of business development, John Blumenthal and asked what was going on. He said the company was changing its focus, telling us: “Volumez is undergoing a pivot into a larger TAM as the market is evolving and opening new opportunities. What we’ve put up online is deliberately vague as we extend the core Volumez technology into a specific focus on AI data infrastructure.”

Volumez'pivot seems to be much more than a code rewrite: “We are not yet in GA and are working with design partners to launch into market with customer references and case studies later this year.“

The change in company direction entailed staffing changes: “Typical in a pivot of this kind, the organization has undergone changes you’ve seen on LinkedIn where the focus is on engineering/product and not on GTM.”

Although Ceva has appointed Volumez CEO and Executive Chair Amir Faintuch to its board, “Amir is fully engaged (and as you noted also sits on few public companies boards, as you expect with his network and background).”

We envisage Volumez offering AI agent Data Infrastructure-as-a-Service, and are eager to find out how its speedy block storage underpinnings will work with agentic AI and the world of KV caching.
